The First Shot by Liv Constantine

The First Shot

A Prequel to The Last Mrs Parrish

In this novella, we follow Lana Crump who leaves her childhood home at 3 am, leaving her old life and her baby son behind. She meets up with an old high school friend who gives her a new identity. The name of a young woman who went missing a few months ago, and who is presumed dead.
As Amber Peterson, she moves to Gunnison, Colorado to seduce a rich man, for she believes she is owed that.

In Gunnison, Amber takes a job as a waitress in a diner and targets one of the patrons, a very rich older man from Texas. She dyed her hair and styled it the same way his late wife used to and expertly inserts herself in his life. Shortly after they got married, she shoots him in the back and convinces (almost) everyone it was a hunting accident…

I really enjoyed this book, it was great to learn Amber’s origin story. She’s such an unlikeable character!
