The Folk of the Air series book 2
Jude Duarte has made sure that Prince Cardan is now the King of Elfhame as a placeholder for her step-brother Oak. As Oak is only little, Jude has sent him to the mortal world to live with Jude’s half sister Vivi and her girlfriend Heather to grow up without the pressure of becoming High King.
Jude has manipulated Cardan into this situation and she’s the one pulling the strings for a year and a day while becoming Cardan’s seneschal.
Jude’s twin sister marries her Fae boyfriend Locke and the night before the wedding Jude is kidnapped by the merfolk’s ruler Queen Orlagh and her daughter Nicasia. Jude is kept captive for a month and during this time she is questioned about Cardan’s reign. She is freed after Orlagh made a deal with Cardan, and is consequently exiled to the mortal world.
This series is fab, I’m not usually a big fan of faeries, but when the story’s written by Holly Black I will definitely read it! Jude finally feels like she’s somewhat accepted in Faerie, she has the job she always wanted and then she’s kidnapped… go figure!
Definitely a must read, if you haven’t already.
