Another Life by Kristin Hannah

Angela Malone moves back home after her marriage failed because of infertility issues, and the death of their daughter. Her father recently died and the family restaurant is suffering. Angie makes up her battle plan, however, her mother and sisters don’t really want to make changes. Angie hires teen Lauren, a non-Italian girl, as a waitress against her mother’s wishes. When Lauren’s mother takes off with her flame, she’s left all alone and pregnant. Angie asks her to move in with her until the baby is born.

This book is heart-breaking, something Kristin Hannah is very good at. I’m not a crier when it comes books, but I’ve come very close in several of Hannah’s books. Gosh, all the feels in this book. I guess it did hit home a little for me. Both Angie and Lauren are very loveable characters, Angie’s grief over the loss of her child, the loss of her marriage was palpable in every word. I cheered when she and her husband got back together.

The ending was a little different than most would probably have guessed, but to me it was perfect. Thank you, Kristin Hannah for another wonderful, and emotional story.

I read this as a buddy read, and my buddy claimed this was her favourite book of the year.
