Parsnips, Buttered by Joe Lycett

If you’ve seen Joe Lycett’s show I’m About to Lose Control And I Think Joe Lycett you will have heard/seen most of this material. Extremely funny stuff nonetheless. Word to the wise, don’t thwart Joe Lycett, he will poke you with a stick until you roll over and play dead. The stick gets bigger each time he nudges you with it until you’re hit with a ten foot barge pole and won’t be able to get up again. I get the feeling Joe will not be happy until one does.

Why buttered parsnips you ask? The sentence faire words butter noe parsnips hails from 1632, which later in the 17th century became doth butter no parsnips. Joe Lycett imposes the latter sentence in one of his many emails on a jobsworth.

What I learned from this book:

  • My email game needs work
  • Do not get on the wrong side of Joe Lycett
