In 1873 Lenna Wickes has come to Paris to find answers about her sister Evie’s death. She meets up with renowned spiritualist Vaudeline D’Allaire who Evie apprenticed for. To find Evie’s killer, Lenna must embrace the occult, and let go of her doubts and skepticism.
Lenna becomes Vaudeline’s new apprentice even if she’s skeptical about the existence of an afterlife and contacting the dead. Together the women travel to London, where Vaudeline’s assistance is needed to solve a high profile murder.
